Trayvon Martin, a name that’s been heard, chanted, written about, tweeted and posted over 2 million times in the past weeks. Martin, who was visiting a gated community in Sanford, Fla., was shot and killed Feb. 26 by George Zimmerman on his way back from 7/11. Since then, the shooting has caused an uproar around the nation. SNN recently got the opportunity to speak with Trayvon’s stepmother, Alicia Martin, who raised him for 15 years.

This Friday, Lakewood High School Spartans football team will have the yearly black and gold game during last period. The admission is $2. “It will be an event you won’t want to miss,” assistant principal Ste’Phan Lane said. There will be a concession stand, dance performances, gift card drawings, a DJ. The Soul Of The South Marching Band will be performing also. Tickets go on sale during lunch break and after school. Come out and support our team to help prepare for next week spring football game, Lane said.
